What if you did something different?

I’m having a reckoning in my brain right now about how my family spends the holidays. And this week - I knew it was coming - I felt the dreaded ICK I get every year at this time.

It never fails - the week before Christmas I am always so frustrated with the crap I’ve watched being delivered to my home. Yes, the same crap I helped my kids add to their Amazon wish lists. The same crap that in November I think looks like the *perfect* gift for them. But by now I’m tired of thinking about shopping, who has more gifts than whom, and about what I need to buy/do to check off all the boxes.

The funny thing is I actually love all the sweet traditions and things that happen outside of the giving. And extra time with family, the cookies, gingerbread house making, etc.

But something feels different this time. The past year has truly been one of awakening for me (thank you, therapy!). I’m learning to listen to my body, set boundaries with people I love, and recognize when my brain is subtly telling me something. This year it’s telling me I’m done. I think we are quitting Christmas next year and will travel instead. Make memories instead of add more Stuff to our home.

And maybe - just maybe - I’ll actually give extended family something more meaningful too. I’m always trying to get creative with extended family gifts - 23&me, Storyworth, Milk Bar, Mike’s Pastries, and Rice to Riches are all things I’ve gifted in the past. And I highly recommend them!

But you know the old saying the cobbler’s family has no shoes? Confession: I have never gifted my family a film. I KNOW. But I think it’s time. This one will be a bit harder and will require some additional planning (as all good gifts do!). But it will definitely be one of the more memorable gifts they’ll get AND it doesn’t take up any space in their house! Win Win Win.

If you are still looking for that something special, you can grab a gift card here. It doesn’t take up any suitcase space and your people will be thrilled with your creativity!

No matter what you gift or where you are - we hope you have very happy holidays!

Where do I even begin? Working with Films of Life has been a pleasure and the content delivered is more than I could have ever asked for and beyond that. Our video is so incredibly perfect and I’m grateful to now how something we can look back on and smile for years to come. Thank you Jenn!!!!
